Carnivore-Approved Vegan/Keto BBQ Sauce

Barbecue is not only a way of cooking, for many, it is a way of life! BBQ sauce is traditionally used as a marinade/sauce for various meats that are grilled. For those of us that don't eat much meat, BBQ sauce is a very under-used addition in our kitchens.

I have been trying for months to create a zesty, healthy BBQ sauce that is naturally low-carb, vegan and the perfect addition when trying to achieve that smoky/barbecue flavour in my cooking. A few recipes I have used this sauce in include - BBQ Cauliflower Flatbread, grilled veggies with bbq dip, bbq tofu & pineapple sandwich, and so much more!

This recipe is:

Tangy

Smooth

Versatile

Mild

Flavourful

Zesty

Easy

But, don't take my word for it, give it a try!

All you need to make this recipe is a medium pot, stovetop and high speed blender. I used a single cup Ninja blender and it worked perfectly! As always, you can modify this recipe in any way you desire. For example, if you like smoky BBQ sauce, you can double up on the liquid smoke, if you prefer a spicy BBQ - throw in a few extra chipotle peppers and maybe add a dash of cayenne pepper. Make it your own!

Making it is simple - add all of the ingredients into a small sauce pan, bring to a boil, stir & simmer for 1 hour. Let cool for 10-15 minutes, blend on high for 1 minute. Let cool completely and store in an airtight glass container for up to 1 month. See full recipe below!

One last thing - if you aren't worried about sugar/carbs, you can substitute brown sugar for the monkfruit/erythritol and maple extract. Happy cooking! #RealGoodFood

We don’t have cans of apple cider vinegar and red wine vinegar where I am from. So how many cups would this be for each of them?
